Cambridgeshire’s major Open Art Exhibition featuring contemporary and traditional paintings, sculpture and prints, and the Rheebridge Awards.
Friday 29 November – Sunday 1 December 2013
(Held at Cottenham Village College in 2013)
We are delighted that it was a great success! Sales well up on last year and many visitors. We are very pleased that the artists were happy and that the visitors felt that it was a great feast of wide-ranging work to look at. Some of the artists’ works are shown below.
Our Keynote Speaker, business guru Dr Meredith Belbin, was sadly unable to attend the Preview but visited the exhibition on Sunday. He believes passionately in the importance of art in education and development; and the value of art in communication in the business and social environment:
” Art cultivates communication between the artist and the viewer. Success in opening up the eyes of the latter will prove the worth of the artist. Success in communication generally functions as a key skill in the modern world and is invaluable in every walk of life.”
The major prizewinners of the Rheebridge awards were as follows:
Best in Show “Colin’s Shed” by John Glover. John also won the People’s Prize for “Tony”
Runners Up Awards Hunter’s Dawn by Valerie Sims
Coatlicue by Steve Ferris
Rose by Caroline Furlong
Home of the Artwork by Janene Elise Pike
Self Portrait by Shane Swann
Valerie Sims’ Walkway was drawn in the “Win the Picture You Like Best”
